Netflix in the United States will be picking up both seasons of the Fox sitcom series, The Mick, which aired between 2017 and 2018. All 37 episodes will touch down on Netflix on June 1st, 2023. Starring Kaitlin Olson, known for her work on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Mick is a riotous comedy series that focuses on the life of Mickey, an unconventional woman who unexpectedly becomes the guardian of her wealthy sister’s spoiled children.
The Cast of The Mick
Alongside Olson, the series starred Sofia Black-D’Elia, Carla Jimenez, Thomas Barbusca, Jack Stanton, and Scott MacArthur. However, in May 2018, Fox announced that the show would not be returning for a third season. Although the series aired on Fox, the creators behind the show included 20th Century Fox Television, 3 Arts Entertainment, and BingBangBoom Productions.

The Mick’s Journey to Netflix
Since its original airing on Fox, the show has been exclusively available for streaming on Hulu. With the announcement of its arrival on Netflix, it’s unclear whether the show will eventually leave Hulu in the coming weeks and months.
Netflix as the New Home for The Mick
Netflix will start licensing the series from June 1st, with the page for the show stating that “Seasons” are coming. As per our research, only Netflix in the United States is currently set to receive both seasons, with regions like the United Kingdom and Canada not including the title in their upcoming releases.
The Impact on Disney’s Strategy
The news of The Mick coming to Netflix comes just a day after Disney announced it would be removing some of its content from its own platforms. This move by Disney and its subsidiaries comes as they open themselves up more to the market. In recent years, they had all but stopped licensing and producing content for rival services.
Upcoming Projects from 20th Television
In recent months, we’ve learned of a new comedy project coming exclusively to Netflix from 20th Television. This project is a comedy series tentatively called Shiksa, starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell. However, two projects from 20th Television for Netflix are still in limbo: Ryan Murphy’s Ratched, which was renewed for a second season but has yet to materialize, and another undisclosed project.
