Lainey Wilson Wows the Crowd at the 2023 CMT Music Awards: Lainey Wilson brought her unique ’70s-inspired aesthetic to the 2023 CMT Music Awards stage on Sunday night (April 2), performing her hit song “Heart Like a Truck.” Set against a psychedelic rainbow backdrop, Wilson rocked shimmering blue leopard print bell-bottom pants, a pastel blue top, and a matching cowboy hat.

A Dreamy Atmosphere

Adding to the dreamy aesthetic, billowing smoke and fiery pyrotechnics accompanied Wilson’s powerful anthem for independent, hard-working women. The crowd roared in approval as she hit the final, soaring high note, showcasing why “Heart Like a Truck” is a fan-favorite and recent No. 1 hit on country radio.

Most Nominated Artist

Entering the awards show as the most nominated artist, Louisiana native Wilson received four nods, including one for the highly coveted Video of the Year. She and Hardy won Collaborative Video of the Year for their duet, “Wait in the Truck.” Additionally, Wilson was nominated for CMT Performance of the Year alongside Cole Swindell and for her “Heart Like a Truck” video in the Female Video of the Year category.

An Impressive Career

The “Things a Man Oughta Know” singer has taken the country music scene by storm, winning numerous awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2022 CMA Awards. Wilson also appeared on the popular show Yellowstone as a musician named Abby. Her Yellowstone castmates and duet partner Hardy introduced her performance at the 2023 CMT Music Awards.

Bell Bottom Country and Touring

Wilson’s second studio album, Bell Bottom Country, was released last October. She is currently touring with her longtime friend and fellow songwriter, Luke Combs. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Wilson shared that she wrote her first song, “Lucky Me,” at the age of nine during a sleepover with a friend.
