Cheryl Burke will be out of the Dancing With the Stars ballroom for at least 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 ahead of Monday’s live broadcast.
The professional dancer – who is fully vaccinated against the virus – broke the news to fans in an Instagram video posted on Sunday night, in which she revealed she felt exhausted and decided to get tested as a precaution.
“OK, guys, so I have some really bad news. I’m positive, which means I have COVID”, Burke shared in the emotional video. “I feel more and more bad. The PCR test came back, and it came back positive, and I feel so bad. I feel so bad for Cody, I feel like I’m letting him down. I just want s — t, to be completely honest.”
“It’s so upsetting because it’s Sunday and the show is tomorrow,” she continued. “I just hope I haven’t spread it. For those of you who don’t think COVID is a real thing, it’s really true, man.”
Burke said she will be in quarantine for the next 10 days, following CDC guidelines for fully vaccinated people who have tested positive.
Another ABC show recently had a fear of COVID as well. “The View” co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro were taken off the show last Friday moments before an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris after testing positive for COVID-19.
Their tests turned out to be false positives and the hosts will be returning to the show, host Joy Behar announced on Monday’s show.
“I am delighted to report that Sunny and Ana’s results on Friday turned out to be false positives,” she said. “Nobody has it. It was sort of a mistake. ” Cheryl Burke Instagram
