Last week, NBC’s Saturday Night Live revealed its first four hosts for the new season, and on Monday, the show announced changes to the regular cast. Cast Member Beck Bennett and Star Player Lauren Holt Leave; Featured Players Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman are now full cast members, and three comics have been added.
Some SNL fans were concerned that numerous cast veterans, namely Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, and Cecily Strong, would be leaving the show to focus on other film and television opportunities, but all four are listed as returning.
Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman are the featured new players.
Announcing his departure from the show on Instagram, Bennett posted a variety of behind-the-scenes photos from his tenure on the show and wrote, “I love you, SNL. I will miss you so much. Thank you for 8 years of amazing people and amazing experiences that have completely changed my life.
It was wondered if several other longtime actors would return this fall, including Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Pete Davidson. All three are now confirmed to be back when SNL Season 47 premieres on NBC on October 2 with host Owen Wilson and musical guest Kacey Musgraves. The rest of October is as follows: Kim Kardashian West and Halsey on October 9, Rami Malek and Young Thug on October 16, and former SNL actor Jason Sudeikis and Brandi Carlile on October 23.
