Will Smith Tried And Failed To Make Up With Chris Rock: According to a new report, Will Smith tried to make up with Chris Rock but failed. During the 94th Academy Awards, Rock made an insensitive joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia. The actor who was about to win an Oscar for his role in King Richard went on stage and slapped Rock in the face. Smith won the Best Actor Oscar almost an hour later. Soon after, he quit the Academy, and for the next 10 years, he couldn’t go to any Academy-related events.
PEOPLE says that Smith has tried to get in touch with Rock privately to apologise, but has failed. The report, which comes from an unnamed source close to the former, says that Smith has “felt terrible for so long” about the incident and that he has tried to grow and move on with the help of his family, even though he hasn’t been able to make peace with it.
How the fight between Will Smith and Chris Rock is still going on?
Smith has publicly apologised to Rock more than once, including in a video he made a few months after the incident in which he talks about what happened and how sorry he is for what he did. However, Rock still seems angry with Smith. He told Smith during the live Netflix comedy special called Selective Outrage that he still hasn’t gotten over the slap. During the last few minutes of the special, Rock not only called out Smith for slapping him in the face at the Oscars, but he also talked about his personal family problems with his wife.
The Smith segment made the internet go crazy, which shows that Rock isn’t ready to move on from the Oscars, even though Smith wants to make up with Rock and has tried to do so privately without success. Smith’s career is starting to get back on track after a few months of almost no news. Martin Lawrence and Adil El Arbi are working on Bad Boys 4, and Bilall Fallah is going to direct it again. He is also going to star in I Am Legend 2 with Michael B. Jordan. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who directed Ms. Marvel, is also making an adaptation of Marcus Sakey’s book Brilliance.
There were also rumours that Will Smith could be nominated for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars for his role in Emancipation, even though he has been banned and quit. This didn’t happen because Austin Butler from Elvis, Colin Farrell from The Banshees of Inisherin, Paul Mescal from Aftersun, Bill Nighy from Living, and Brendan Fraser from The Whale, who is the favourite to win, beat Smith. When the Oscars start next Sunday with Jimmy Kimmel as host, it will be interesting to see who wins and if the slap incident is made fun of.
