Why Is Nancy Pelosi No Longer Speaker Of The House?
After the midterm elections in 2022, when Republicans won the House, Pelosi planned to step down as Speaker on January 3. The politician will return to Congress as a representative to finish the rest of her term.
Her 20-year run as the most powerful Democrat in the House of Representatives ended when she said she would step down in November after the election results came in.
In a speech she gave at the time, Pelosi said that she thought it was time for a new generation to lead the Democratic Congress, which she respected. She was glad that many people were willing to help with this tremendous job.
The House Democratic Caucus, which she called “the greatest gathering of intelligence, virtue, and vision for the good of the American people,” put their trust in her. She thanked them in a statement she released on Tuesday. She thanked the people of San Francisco, whom she will continue to work for. She also said thank you to the people who live in her district.
The way people on Twitter reacted to Pelosi’s resignation showed how much her political opponents hated her and how much her allies respected her while she was Speaker.
