Why are the first few minutes of a heart attack the most important for giving CPR?
CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a significant skill that can mean the difference between life and death. The process aims at controlling blood flow following a cardiac arrest. It’s the primary cause of death in the united states, using 350,000 and many more individuals suffering from it annually. What is more disturbing is, with no CPR or other processes, someone could die in eight to 10 minutes following a cardiac arrest.
Aim of all CPR
It’s crucial that the brain and the heart continue to get oxygen and blood. A disruption in the blood circulation even for just 3-4 minutes may end in mind damage. The aim of CPR would be to make sure that there is a constant supply of blood and oxygen, also if it’s minimal, to the body’s organs to avert permanent damage.
Survival Rates
The fast use of CPR may increase a victim’s survival odds by up to 50%. Needless to say, CPR does not cure the origin of the assault but it does give the victim the opportunity to receive interventions like cardiac defibrillation or surgery. Bear in mind that CPR isn’t restricted to situations such as cardiac arrest or drowning. Other scenarios that may call for CPR intervention include choking, drug overdose, electric shock, and severe allergic reactions.
