Laith Ashley, a transgender model, actor, activist, and singer who appeared in the music video for Taylor Swift’s song “Lavender Haze” with Swift, has become the talk of the town for all the right reasons.
People have given Swift a lot of praise for putting Ashley in Lavender Haze because it shows how transgender people are treated. The 33-year-old singer-newest songwriter’s song is on her 10th studio album, Midnights. The official music video for the song has already been watched more than 7.7 million times in just two days after it came out.
Fans of Taylor Swift are busy watching Lavender Haze, but many people are also interested in Laith Ashley, who has been on the covers of several fashion and lifestyle magazines.
Who is Laith Ashley?
Laith Ashley was born in a Dominican-American family in New York. She was a girl at first. In a past interview, the model said that he knew there was “something different about himself” when he was 4 or 5, but he didn’t know the word “transgender” until he was 19.
Ashley was raised as a Christian but didn’t tell anyone for years because his family was religious. Ashley also talked about “praying his gay way” in another interview. He said that he did this because his religion gave him conflicting ideas.
But when Laith was 17, he finally told his family he was gay after he fell in love with a girl. He never called himself a lesbian, and he has said that he doesn’t like the word “lesbian,” even though he thought he was one.
As was already said, Laith found videos on YouTube of other trans people talking about their transitions when he was 19 years old. He finally told people he was trans in November 2013, and he began the process of becoming a woman in January 2014, when he was 24.
After studying psychology at Fairfield University in Connecticut, Ashely changed his name to Laith and started working as an activist for LGBTQ+ homeless youth.
After getting over transphobia, Laith Ashley started modelling in 2015. He has worked for Barney and Calvin Klein, among other companies. Ashley also made history when she became the first transgender man to be in a Diesel ad.
Laith Ashley has not only been a model, but he has also been an actor, a singer, and a guest on many shows. His most recent project was Taylor Swift’s Lavender Haze, in which he played her love interest. Swift has won 11 Grammys.
For those who don’t know, Swift directed the Lavender Haze video that came out on her YouTube channel on January 27. The Anti-Hero tweeted the same thing and gave credit to Laith Ashley, with whom she “loved working.”
