What Rapper Died Yesterday?
What Rapper Died Yesterday? The hip-hop scene has lost an artist in its own right and a credible character. The rapper Young Dolph had long enjoyed legendary status in his hometown of Memphis and was on his way to becoming a figurehead of US rap. On Wednesday he was shot dead in a bakery in his hometown, he was only 36 years old.
So far, no suspect has been identified, said police chief Cerelyn Davis. “This act is another example of the senseless gun violence that we experience locally and nationwide,” added the agency.
Young Dolph Shot In Bakery
The “rich slave” rapper was reportedly shot dead by an unknown shooter. Young Dolph died in Memphis, as three independent law enforcement agencies have now confirmed.
The shooting occurred at Makeda’s Butter Cookies, a Memphis bakery that the rapper reportedly went to regularly. Owner Maurice Hill told FOX13 that his employees testified that Young Dolph was there to buy cookies. While the rapper was in the store, a previously unidentified man entered the store and opened fire. A video of the rapper is circulating on the Internet showing him in front of the bakery when he was shopping there earlier and talking to a fan. So it is quite possible that the perpetrators knew that they would meet him here regularly.
Who Was Young Dolph?
Born Adolph Thornton Jr. in Chicago in 1985, he moved with his childhood family to the south, where he grew up with his grandmother. He had also seen his parents use drugs as a child. “Can you imagine how my over 70-year-old grandmother fared when she raised me and my two siblings alone in the ghetto, in the midst of gang violence and drugs?” He often said in interviews.
Young Dolph’s path into the vicious circle of drugs and violence also seemed mapped out. But then he found fulfillment in rapping. His debut album “Paper Route Campaign” was released in 2008 and received many good reviews.
Even then, Young Dolph insisted on artistic freedom and financial independence and soon afterward founded his own record company Paper Route Empire. The specific southern rap flow should not be bent and marketed independently of major labels.
