Rumors spread on social media, as with so many things these days. A purported black hole accident recently made the news, and the July 5th CERN Large Hadron Collider ignition is no different.

It didn’t take long for many people to believe that CERN’s collider would either create a black hole or open a portal to another dimension when it turned on on July 5th.

Some predicted the end of the world in a single day.

It’s easy to be swept up in the gloom and doom of current events and imagine we’re living in a post-apocalyptic society, but CERN’s apparent death machine allegations are absolutely incorrect.

Even if CERN hadn’t turned it on since 2018, when the machine was shut down, the firm says it was just a routine maintenance question.

Even though we hate to say it, CERN’s subsequent third trial of the machine won’t feature a planetary implosion or the appearance of extraterrestrial life forms from a hole.

People will point to an old social media post claiming CERN had apologized for ending the world in 2012, but as we’ve noted before, this has shown to be inaccurate.

The fact that CERN has made no comment about an accident is evident, yet, social media users haven’t let that stop them from speculating.
