The sound of Luffy’s heartbeat can be heard all over the castle, and his crew is happy that he is still alive. In the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, on the other hand, the Five Elders wonder if sacrificing the agent they did was the right choice, which makes Kaido very angry. The Elders then say that the World Government has been looking for the Gomu Gomu devil fruit for almost 800 years but has never been able to find it.

This is when the real truth comes out: the Gomu Gomu fruit is actually a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This devil fruit gives the user the properties of rubber in battle, and what they do with that is up to them. However, it is said that it helps strengthen their rubbery body exponentially and gives them more freedom on a God-like level, making it the most powerful devil fruit out there.

As the rooftop fight continues, Luffy says he can keep going longer and calls his new form “Gear 5.” With this new form, Luffy lets out a lot of Haoshoku Haki and easily takes out a lot of Beast Pirates. He then stretches out his hand, grabs Kaido, who is in his dragon form, and pulls him back to the rooftop.

He then wrapped his arm around him tightly and swung him, slamming him back and forth against the surface. Kaido tells Luffy that he’s glad he’s still alive before shooting him with Bolo Breath. Then, Luffy turns into rubber and throws the fire back at him. Kaido gets better after being hit, and Luffy gets ready to finish his fight with Kaido for good.

In chapter 1044 of the manga, Monkey D. Luffy puts his Gear 5 to use. This is when everyone found out what his devil fruit was really like, which really got fans interested. They say that the World Government has tried to get the Gum-Gum Fruit more than once, but it has always “gotten away from them.”
