What Brands Of EYE Drops Are Being Recalled In 2023? In February 2023, the FDA said that some eye care products could be contaminated with bacteria. What eye drops are being recalled?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) told everyone on February 2 to stop using a certain brand of eye drops because some people got sick after using them. The FDA has now called back another eye care product.
In light of the new information from the FDA, let’s look at which brands of eyedrops are being recalled.
What Brands Of EYE Drops Are Being Recalled In 2023?
The eyedrops that will be recalled in 2023 are said to have come from India and been spread through the Internet. The FDA has told Americans to stay away from Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Eye Ointment. Earlier this month, the FDA told people to stay away from EzriCare’s Artificial Tears eyedrops.
The same company, Global Pharma Healthcare Private Limited, makes both of these over-the-counter products. CBS says that the company based in India has agreed to take back the product and stop making it.
Why Have The Drops Been Recalled?
Because they might have been contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a type of bacteria that is resistant to most antibiotics, the EzriCare eyedrops have been recalled.
At least 55 cases of bacterial infection in 12 states have been linked to the EzriCare Artificial Tears. Of those 55 cases, at least five people lost their sight and one person died, according to NBC.
It is not clear why Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Eye Ointment has also been added to the recall list.
