Treason Season 1 Ending Explained, Recap

Treason Season 1: So, most of what happened in Treason started 15 years ago in Baku, where MI6 agent Adam Lawrence made a name for himself by stopping a disaster at the embassy.

But he was acting on a tip from his secret lover, the Russian spy Kara. He didn’t want his relationship to be discovered because then he wouldn’t be able to take credit for saving the people at the embassy. So he ran away and left Kara in the country, where an MI6 agent with the code name “Dorian” killed her team.

Now, in the present day, Sir Martin Angelis, who is in charge of MI6, thinks Adam is Dorian. This is because he moved up quickly in the service, and the CIA marked him as a person of interest. In a technical sense, they are right.

Kara has given Adam important information that has helped him win many big games over the years, but he didn’t know he was being used. Kara wanted him to be in a position of power so he could help her find out who killed her team, so she poisoned Angelis to make Adam Chief.

Treason Season 1 Ending Explained, Recap

In the middle of all this, Russian agents are manipulating a critical race for the leadership of Number 10. Anton Melnikov gave money to a man named Robert Kirby’s campaign so that he could turn Kirby into a double agent for the Kremlin and get back into the Motherland. Angelis knew this, but he also planned to let it happen and then tell the public about the plot to strengthen his position in MI6.

Angelis kept a lot of illegal files on essential people to control them. One of these files showed that Kirby’s opponent, foreign secretary Audrey Gratz, had used a government plane to fly in a doctor to help her mother commit suicide.

Angelis killed Adam and Melnikov in the second-to-last episode so he could blame Kara for both murders and hide his tracks. But Kara stopped Barnes from killing Adam and his family, so Angelis went to Adam’s wife, Maddy’s friend Dede, who works for the CIA, to get her team to kill Adam and Kara.

Treason Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

So, the ending starts with a double attack. Adam and Kara meet with Malik, and Maddy meets with Gratz after giving him a note and a phone in a sneaky way. If Adam can find Angelis’s files, she says she’ll protect him from being charged, and if Gratz ends up in Number 10, she’ll make Malik her new C.

Malik plays ball and turns on the tracker on Olamide’s phone. This leads him to a builder’s yard, where he scans the files and burns the paper copies. Everyone wins, except, of course, Angelis.

This is where everything starts. Kara can quickly look at the CIA’s Baku file, which, as we already know, says that Adam is Dorian. She steals the hard drive with the digital copies on it and, when she’s found, strangles Olamide to death.

On the other hand, Maddy shows up to help, and Dede and her hit squad show up around the same time. There is a gunfight, and Dede has Adam at gunpoint in the end.

Just as Maddy is about to hand over the hard drive, Adam rushes at Dede, and she shoots him dead. Kara and Maddy take the hard drive and run away.

Angelis blames Kara for Adam’s death and uses Patrick and Malik’s desire to become C to force them to find Kara and kill her in any way they can.

Kara and Maddy are entirely alone and have no friends since Gratz won’t take the files because Adam is dead. Instead, she tells Maddy to give them to Angelis, thinking that if Angelis reveals Adam as a double agent, he’ll also ruin Kirby’s reputation, which will keep her in Number 10.

Treason Season 1 Ending Explained

Maddy and Kara set a trap to catch the real double agent because Angelis’s files only have the codename “Dorian”, and they assume it’s Adam. Kara says it couldn’t have been Adam because he was with her when her men were killed so he couldn’t have done it. Kara tells Irina Belova what she knows about the kompromat, and then Irina means the next person in the chain. The idea is that Dorian will put himself in danger to get the info.

So, Maddy has to sneak into the meeting Angelis has called in the Commons Intelligence Committee. Patrick is leaving the hearing when she gets there, and they happen to run into each other. He tries to take the papers she is carrying, which is a pretty clear sign that he is Dorian. Maddy realises that Patrick is Dorian.

Maddy stops Angelis as he leaves to tell him that he killed the wrong person and that Patrick is Dorian. She uses the hard drive to stab him in the throat and then leaves him for Kara to get. She takes the papers to the hearing after that. Gratz uses the chance to show that Angelis is trying to blackmail him and starts to clear Adam’s name.
