This five-part spy thriller uses the tried and true premise of a secret agent’s history catching up with them. However, an MI6 officer will be the one to deal with a Russian spy instead of a CIA operative.

Treason Release Date
On December 26, 2022, Netflix will debut the new thriller series. With the message “The release date has been published on Netflix UK’s Twitter account,” the streaming service announced the premiere date for its newest original series.
A season consists of five episodes, all of which must premiere at the same time. Netflix has routinely followed this business strategy, but the company is cautiously trying with block releases in an effort to phase out the bingeing approach.
Treason Trailer
The limited series trailer, which premiered on Netflix on December 7, 2022, packs a dramatic and suspenseful punch. The trailer begins with the sentence, “Thirty-six hours ago, an attempt was attempted to kill the chief of MI6,” and immediately draws the viewer into the realm of espionage with its ominous music and tense visuals. Adam Lawrence, a young father and member of Cox, is promoted to chief despite his lack of experience and knowledge. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that a politician was apparently pressured to withdraw from a contest and that the chief’s warning not to trust anyone is all part of a larger, evil plot.
When Adam’s Russian ex-girlfriend Kara arrives, claiming to have worked the system to earn Adam the top job and is now coming to get her recompense, things quickly start to go wrong, and the audience, like the characters, is pushed to doubt if everything is as it seems. Since Adam’s wife, Maddy begins to suspect him of betraying his country after unknown individuals threaten them, he has a lot to explain. The audience is eager to go deeper into the world of Treason, which the trailer has done an excellent job of establishing.
Treason Preview
Treason is, fundamentally, a tale of betrayal. Adam Lawrence, played by Charlie Cox, is the show’s protagonist. Lawrence is an M16 agent with a problematic background, convinced that his past will catch up with him and haunt him forever.
He has everything together on the outside, but when a Russian spy named Kara (Olga Kurylenko) enters his life, he is forced to face his past and disturb his present. As the situation becomes increasingly dire, a complicated triangle arises between Kara, Adam, and his wife, Maddy (Oona Chaplin), all of whom are determined to expose the other’s secrets and destroy the one thing they hold dear.
Treason is not your typical spy thriller; instead, it focuses on a brutal love triangle set against deadly threats, Russian spies, complex political and diplomatic crises, and extremely high stakes. The tagline, “Question everything, mistrust everyone,” captures the essence of the drama in a few words and provides a glimpse into the dynamic of the relationships that will likely surprise and engage the viewer.
