The Witcher Season 3 Episode 2 Recap & Cast

A Spoiler Alert is in order for this recap of The Witcher Season 3 Episode 2, titled “Unbound.”

The season opens up with the main characters parting ways after just one episode of unity, and the plotlines have already started diverging. There’s a blend of familiar faces and new mysteries as Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer tread separate paths.

The Witcher Season 3 Episode 2 Recap

🕵️‍♂️ Who are Codringher and Fenn? 📚

As Geralt seeks assistance to track down Rience, he turns to Codringher and Fenn, a detective agency cum law firm. This seems to be another nod to the franchise fans, akin to the Easter egg in the first episode, “The Professor”.

These detectives give Geralt his first lead — Vuilpanne, a castle where he might find crucial information about the sorcerer controlling Rience. Istredd is also around, stirring up his share of mysteries.

💀 What Does Geralt Find in Vuilpanne? 🏰

In Vuilpanne, Geralt is greeted by a grotesque sight in the dungeon. A distressed woman, encased in webbing, rambles about a man who pays night-time visits. Adding to the chilling atmosphere are three heads protruding from fleshy stalks on the walls. These belong to a monstrous creature made of haphazardly joined body parts, which Geralt is forced to fight and kill. He then takes the young woman away from the dungeon.

✨ Where Does Yennefer Take Ciri? 🚪

While Geralt is uncovering horrors, Yennefer and Ciri are on their journey to Aretuza. But Ciri’s increasingly worrying visions and her attempts to intervene in destiny necessitate a detour. Yen decides to buy a direct portal to Aretuza from an old friend, Keira.

However, when Ciri frees a captive dwarf, sensing a grim future for him, they are forced to flee and take the long route to Aretuza. This detour is a journey into Yen’s past, teaching Ciri valuable lessons about the potential consequences of meddling with destiny.

🎭 Other Plot Threads in “Unbound” 🎭

Philippa and Dijkstra are seen attempting to manipulate Jaskier into bringing Ciri to them to strengthen Redania’s political foothold. Radovid, Vizimir’s charismatic brother, is part of this scheme.

In a twist, Jaskier advises Radovid to bribe Codringher and Fenn for information about Rience, hoping to gain Geralt’s trust.

🎬 Unraveling the End of Episode 2 🎬

The episode wraps up with tragic events. Rience, with his healed hands, forces Codringher and Fenn to reveal what they know and subsequently burns down their office.

Simultaneously, Geralt attempts to communicate with the woman he rescued from Vuilpanne. In a shocking revelation, the woman believes she is Ciri.
