No need to make you wait any longer: Netflix launches season 2 of The Witcher from December 17, 2021. A date was officially unveiled during a WitcherCon panel where several members of the cast were present. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, showrunner and executive producer of the series, was also present for this special event.
The second season also unveils the first poster with Cirilla de Cintra (Freya Allen) and Geralt de Riv (Henry Cavill). Two gifts for the price of one!

The actors who camped the characters of season 1 are joined by new faces in this season 2 which will introduce new characters. In the returns category, we obviously have the essentials. Henry Cavill is still the witcher Geralt of Rivia, his protege Ciri is played by Freya Allan, the witches Yennefer and Triss Merigold come to life respectively thanks to Anja Chalotra and Anna Shaffer, and it is Joey Batey who has the role of the minstrel Jaskier.

Netflix has not yet revealed details about the plot of the next season, beyond the events that marked the end of the first installment, when Geralt and Ciri finally crossed their paths, while Yennefer disappeared after detaining part of Nilfgaard’s army in the climax of the Battle of Mount Sodden.
As the first season of ” The Witcher ” was based in part on the collection of short stories from “The Last Wish” and “The Sword of Destiny”, which precede Sapkowski’s main story, the second installment would have to adapt the rest of “Blood of Elves” (“The blood of the elves”), the first novel of the saga and where the first trips of Geralt, Citi, and Yennefer are explored together.
In dialogue with Digital Spy, Lauren Schmidt announced that the next season will be even more intense than the first after collecting and exploiting everything that could be built in the first batch of episodes.
