Dance Number and a Mob Favor

The episode opens with an extravagant dance number, with Frank and Nicky producing an expo show. The mob enforcers ask Susie to have Midge fill in for an actor who dropped out, which Susie reluctantly agrees to in order to repay a debt.

Midge’s Rejection of Gordon’s Advances

At the Gordon Ford Show, Midge turns down Gordon’s proposition for a date, even after he implies that he’s in an open marriage. Susie calls Midge with the expo show offer, and Midge accepts to help her manager.

A Disappointing Performance

Midge’s role at the expo show involves advertising demolition and waste management. The show opens with a big musical number, but Midge’s performance leaves much to be desired, as she interrupts other performers and delivers a lackluster act.

Abe and Rose’s Disagreement

Abe and Rose attend a play and argue over its meaning. When Rose asks the playwright for clarification, she’s proven right, leading to an awkward silence between the couple. Meanwhile, their employees, Zelda and another staff member, get engaged.

Midge’s Missed Opportunity

Back at work, Midge offers to fill in for a comic guest who canceled, but Gordon turns her down, citing a rule that writers can’t perform on the show. Disheartened, Midge delivers a subpar performance at the expo show, angering the mob enforcers.

Joel’s Concern and Susie’s Past

Joel witnesses Susie’s argument with the mob enforcers and worries about Midge’s involvement with dangerous people. At the Gordon Ford Show, Sophie Lennon makes a surprise appearance, stealing the spotlight. Susie confronts Mike about not informing her of the show’s rule but leaves without a resolution.

As Susie exits, she encounters Gordon Ford’s wife, Hedy, with whom she shares a mysterious past. Hedy implies they were close years ago, possibly in a relationship, but Susie is hurt by her past actions and refuses to reconnect.
