The Last of Us Fans Go Wild For Original Joel Actor’s Episode 8 Death: The death of the Last of Us character played by the original Joel actor has sent the internet into a frenzy. In episode 8 of The Last of Us, “When We Are in Need,” Troy Baker was in it. He was the voice of Joel in the first video game. In the TV show, Baker plays James, a member of a religious cult where the leader, David, has a lot of power. James dies at the hands of Ellie, who kills him after James and David try to kill and eat her.
When James died in The Last of Us episode 8, fans went crazy on Twitter. Many people thought it was funny that he died in such a violent way, while others posted shocked GIFs with comments like “ELLIE KILLED TROY BAKER?!?”
How Episode 8 of “The Last of Us” sets up the big ending?
Many viewers were excited to see Baker in The Last of Us episode 8 because they had either played the game or heard about Baker on HBO’s The Last of Us podcast. Like what The Last of Us did with Jeffrey Pierce, who voiced Tommy in the game but played Perry on the show, Baker played a smaller role on the show than the one he had in the game. Baker’s death at the hands of Ellie is even more shocking because Ellie is related to Baker’s original character, Joel.
In episode 8 of The Last of Us, James wasn’t the only person Ellie killed. Even though The Last of Us has been on for a while, this is the first time she has gotten this violent. Ellie has not only learned to take care of herself, but if stabbing David for no reason is any indication, she has enough anger to fight a fierce and bloody battle.
Even though James and David are gone, Ellie and Joel are still in a bad situation as The Last of Us’s finale comes up next week. Ellie’s fall off the horse in episode 8 makes it seem like she has a concussion, and Joel’s stab wound from episode 6 is still healing, though he’s doing better than ever. If the season finale of The Last of Us follows the game, the couple will have to fight even bigger battles than in episode 8.
