Oppenheimer Release Date, Preview, Cast

Universal Pictures has released the trailer for “Oppenheimer,” the latest movie by Christopher Nolan.

“Oppenheimer” is a movie about the life of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is credited with coming up with the idea for the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer was one of the prominent people who worked on the Manhattan Project, a government research project from 1942 to 1946 that focused on making nuclear weapons. He was also the director of Los Alamos Laboratory, where the bombs were made.

Oppenheimer is played by Cillian Murphy, who has never had a leading role in a Nolan movie before. After starring in “Inception,” “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” and “Dunkirk,” Murphy has been a regular in several of Nolan’s films.

“Oppenheimer” will be released in theatres on July 21, 2023.

The movie is based on the 2006 Pulitzer Prize-winning biography “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

Nolan will turn the book into a movie and direct and produce the project, along with Charles Roven and Emma Thomas. Nolan’s relationship with Warner Bros. ended after “Tenet,” so “Oppenheimer” is the first movie he’s made since “Memento” in 2000 that the studio won’t release.
