Where is King George VI Memorial Chapel?

St. George’s Chapel includes the King George VI Memorial Chapel as one of its sections. It is located underneath the chapel on the grounds of Windsor, which since the 15th century has served as the final resting place for several royal family members.

In 1962, Queen Elizabeth gave the order to construct the chapel so that it might be used as a burial site for her father, who had passed away 10 years earlier. The year 1969 marks the chapel’s construction was finally finished.

Since the 15th century, numerous senior members of the royal family have been interred in the Royal Vault, which is situated below the grounds of Windsor Castle and has served as the preferred burial location for this purpose. The casket will be lowered into the crypt through an aperture in St. George’s Chapel, as is customary when a royal family member is being laid to rest there.
