According to IGN India, a shot, which can be seen here in a tweet, claims to show what appears to be Tom Cruise on the set of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, dressed in a motion capture outfit (like the ones Robert Downey Jr. would wear in the previous MCU movies). There is some evidence to imply that the tales about him portraying an iron man version are real.

There is some discourse about the authenticity of the set photo, but for the time being, as is often the case with Marvel, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. Having said that, it’s important to recall that the majority of the purported set images from Spider-Man: No Way Home (which revealed a number of appearances and returns) turned out to be true in the end.
