The movie, which came out on March 17, shows how Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon, who played reporters for the Boston Record-American, worked hard to find out what was going on with the disturbing murders. The two had to fight to get the story published, and in the trailer, Keira, who plays reporter Loretta McLaughlin, asks, “How many women have to die before it’s a story?”

The movie is based on a story that happened. Britannica says that between 1962 and 1964, the Boston Strangler killed at least 13 women in the Boston area. He became one of the most famous serial killers in American history.
Loretta McLaughlin and Jean Cole, two local reporters, decided to cover the story in order to get justice for the people who were killed. Until their deaths, they were known for their work on the Boston Strangler news story.
