Hextall talked again about his plans for the Penguins and, more importantly, the trade deadline that is coming up soon. He said that any trades they make will help them both in the long run and in the current season.

We are going to do everything we can to improve the team. We’re not looking to spend big assets on rentals. If we’re going to spend, it’s going to help us this year and in years to come.

There is a lot at stake for the Penguins. They have made the playoffs for 16 straight years, which is the longest active streak in major North American professional sports. They don’t want to risk losing that record.
