Grown-ish Season 5: For the fifth season of Grown-ish, a different Johnson family member will be the focus of the show’s attention.

Rainbow and Andre Johnson’s eldest daughter, Zoey, played by Yara Shahidi, went to the fictional California University of Liberal Arts, or Cal U, in the sitcom’s first season, a spin-off of the enormously popular Black-ish series.

For the fifth season of Grown-ish, Marcus Scribner’s character Junior, Zoey’s younger brother, takes the spotlight.

The following season will focus on Junior as he begins his college career at California University, but Zoey devotees need not worry, as she will appear in several episodes.

Additionally, the teaser introduces us to numerous new characters, including Tara Raani as sophomore Zara; Justine Skye as freshman Annika; and Amelie Zilber, a devoted Christian who overcompensates for her inexperience.

Grown-ish Season 5 Plot

After a brief hiatus, the show will return to feature her older brother Junior (played by Marcus Scribner), the eldest child of Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), and Andre Johnson (Anthony Anderson), as he begins his undergraduate career at California State University, Northridge.

Grown-ish Season 5 Cast

New cast members have been added to the forthcoming seasons of Grown-ish.
Slick Woods and Justine Skye have joined the cast, along with Tara Raani, Amelie Zilber, Ceyair Wright, Matthew Sato, and Tara Raani’s daughter.

Both Shahidi and Scribner are returning to their roles as Zoey and Junior, as well as Trevor Jackson and Diggy Simmons, respectively.

Grown-ish show runners Courtney Lilly and Zakiyyah Alexander have claimed the departure of Francia Rasa (Ana), Chloe Bailey (Jazz), Halle Bailey (Sky), Emily Arlook (Nomi), and Luka Sabbat (Luca) may not be permanent.

As the series proceeds, we expect to see more members of the Johnson family make cameos.

After eight seasons, the Johnson family drama Black-ish ended, but Tracee Ellis-Ross and Anthony Anderson, who played grandmother Rainbow and son Andre, respectively, will no sure make an appearance to see Zoey and Junior.

Grown-ish Season 5 Release Date

The fifth season of Freeform’s Grown-ish will begin on July 20. New episodes will air every Wednesday in season five.
