The end of the year is fast approaching, and so is The Game Awards. The ceremony of several hours should reserve some surprises since Naoki Yoshida of Square Enix will be present. A special announcement about Final Fantasy 16 will be planned.

Final Fantasy 16 director and producer Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, will appear at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2022 on December 8 for a “very special live presentation.” As a reminder, Final Fantasy 16 is currently nominated in the most anticipated games category, alongside Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4, Starfield and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

We learned a few weeks ago that Square Enix’s next game will be exclusive to the PS5 for at least 6 months, so that’s probably going to be something other than Yoshi-P’s topic. We know the game will be released sometime in the summer of 2023, and this is precisely the announcement everyone is looking forward to.

On December 8, the biggest games of the year will be celebrated during the annual meeting, where rewards and big announcements are in order. Players are obviously waiting to discover new games, but the following hits of 2023 will ensure the show. Several rumours suggested that Final Fantasy 16 would be at the festivities and would open its pre-orders for the occasion. It is now confirmed in half words.

The official Game Awards 2022 account has confirmed that Naoki Yoshida will be present at this occasion for a “special live presentation” next Thursday. This leaves little room for doubt; the release date of FF16 should be revealed there. The game’s producer had said a few days ago that it would be announced by the end of the year. As explained by Tom Henderson, a new trailer would be planned for the occasion, with pre-orders opening at the key.

It remains to be seen if Final Fantasy 16 will arrive in the summer of 2023 or if the developers wish to delay or even advance its arrival. As a reminder, the game producer had revealed that Final Fantasy 16 was already at 95% of its development. All that remained was to refine it. We know, however, that the game should be the most mature of the saga. Explicit sex scenes, prostitution, drugs, the title could not be in the lace.
