Cyberpunk 2077 Next-Gen Release Date (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S)

The release of Cyberpunk 2077 in late 2020 was a near-disastrous thing thanks to the pretty atrocious performance the game achieved on current-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One.

Even on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game had a wide variety of bugs and issues when it came out and while the fixes have come in droves, a full next-gen release for the game has long since been released that offers better performance and higher quality images, been in the pipeline.

At the end of 2021, this was pushed back to 2022, and now we have a hint that at least the PS5 version could be out very soon, thanks to @PlaystationSize, a Twitter account that monitors upcoming game files on PlayStation Network and reports their file sizes.

Cyberpunk 2077 Next-Gen Release Date

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in late 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. PS5 and Xbox Series players can currently play via backward compatibility; the next-gen version will be pushed until the first quarter of 2022, CD Projekt RED promised; while The Witcher 3 will do the same with its next-gen edition in the second quarter of 2022. The update to new generation consoles will be free for those who already have the title purchased on PS4 or Xbox One.

Last November, during the presentation of financial results, CD Projekt assured that both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 were on the right track in their next-gen versions; so they hope to be able to publish them on the dates estimated by themselves on those same dates.

Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter Account

The Twitter account posted a new image on Sunday, January 30, 2022. This appears to be a new background to set the PS5 version of the game apart from CDPR.

When doing a reverse search of the image on the internet, it returns no results, as reported by VGC. This would mean that it is the image that would come out when choosing the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077.

In November, CDPR confirmed that both versions – along with The Witcher 3 for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 – were ” on track ” to meet their target release dates.
