Camilo Madrigal Supporting Character In Disney's Animated Film

Camilo Madrigal is a minor character in Encanto, a Disney animated movie coming out in 2021. He is Pepa and Félix Madrigal’s middle child. He is younger than Dolores and older than Antonio. Camilo was called the “theatre kid” of The Madrigals and was given the power to change into anyone he wanted.

Camilo was born into the Madrigal family. He is the middle child of Pepa and Félix. He is Dolores’ younger brother and Antonio’s older brother. Camilo is the cousin of Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel. He is also the nephew of Julieta, Bruno, and Agustn. He is Mirabel’s second-oldest cousin.

He is the same age as she is, just a few months older. They were in the same nursery for the first five years of their lives. Camilo got the ability to change shape on the night of his fifth birthday. He then moved out of the nursery and into his room. After getting his magical gift, Camilo became Encanto’s babysitter because he was good with the kids and babies in the village. He helped the mothers take care of their children. Camilo sometimes uses his ability to change shape to make fun of his family when he is not working in town (mainly his father and Isabela).

Because Camilo’s gift isn’t handy to the community, Abuela Alma gives him the fewest responsibilities of anyone in the family. Even so, he feels pressure and has insecurities, just like the rest of his family. Camilo’s cheerful attitude hides his fears, and he is described as someone who “doesn’t quite know who he is yet,” which suggests that he has trouble with his sense of self.

He doesn’t remember Bruno like his sister or older cousins do because his uncle was very private in the last years he lived with the family and left when Camilo was only five years old. Camilo didn’t know much about his long-lost uncle Bruno when he was growing up. He only heard rumours about Bruno from his family and other people in the town. When Bruno returns to the family after Casa Madrigal falls, it turns out that Camilo is the only one of his siblings who didn’t know that Bruno never left and still lived in Casita. So, when he first showed up, Camilo was confused.

Camilo and the rest of the Madrigal family were made to be “family archetypes that are easy to understand.” The studio allowed Camilo to change forms because they wanted him to be like “a teen who doesn’t know who they are yet and is trying on a lot of different personas.” One of the first ideas he had about his gift was that he could change into people and animals. The studio first thought that Camilo’s hair should cover one of his eyes to show his bad attitude, but then they changed it to something more positive and “messy.” One thing that didn’t change was that his clothes still had to show that he was a performer. At first, his ruana was going to be more red, and he was going to wear dark yellow shoes.

Camilo was first thought of as an “angry teen” with a role as an enemy during the creation process. He would be rude and sarcastic and use his power to make trouble in the house. Camilo was rude to Mirabel and even made fun of Abuela Alma, the family matriarch, for a short time. But because Isabela needs to be the most mean of the grandchildren and Camilo’s behaviour would have made the family look bad, this idea about the character was taken away.

In the final production, his personality changed so that he was calm and friendly, and his jokes were meant to make people laugh instead of making them mad. The only thing about him that stayed the same was how much he liked to tell scary stories about Bruno. Camilo’s transformation into his uncle was supposed to be more difficult at first. He was going to have pointy teeth and a crazy look on his face, and he was going to be as big as a room.
