When Does Dune Come Out On HBO Max?

On 22 October, one of the most anticipated and discussed films of recent years will be released in the US on HBO Max. And this is not an exaggeration. Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) with his concubine Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) and son Paul (Timothy Chalamet) arrives on the planet Arrakis or Dune. It is ruled by the evil Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard).

By order of the padishah-emperor, Leto must replace his old enemy, taking over his leadership. But the hero realizes that the plans of the House of Harkonnen are more complicated and dangerous. No one will just give up power on Dune, because spice is mined there – a substance that makes interstellar travel possible.

What The 2021 Adaptation Is About?

For several years Canadian director Denis Villeneuve dreamed of filming an adaptation of the novel, dividing it into at least two parts. Dune 2021 is based on the novel of the same name but does not retell it in full. The action takes place in the distant future, the planets are ruled by the Empire. Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) receives from the emperor the task of putting in order the planet Arrakis, where spices are mined – a substance necessary to prolong life and navigation during space travel. In recent years, Arrakis has been ruled by the House of the Harkonnen led by the Baron (Stellan Skarsgard), and the supply of spices has declined.

Duke Atreides realizes that he is being sent into an extremely turbulent environment, trying to scold the Harkonnen. However, he flies to Arrakis with his son Paul (Timothy Chalamet), his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), and the warrior teacher Paul Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin). On the new planet, Paul learns that he is the chosen one, who will lead the resistance of the Empire. And at the same time, he understands why a girl constantly appears in his dreams – the Fremen Chani (Zendea), a representative of the indigenous people of Arrakis, who live in the desert.
