Increased sales have resulted in an anticipated $830 million jackpot for the Mega Millions drawing on July 26.
The prize is the third greatest in the game’s history and the fourth largest in the history of the United States lottery.
The jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is estimated at $487.9 million. If no one wins the jackpot in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing, the prize will roll over to an annuitized sum of $1.025 billion on Friday, July 29.
There will be a 29th drawing in the current Mega Millions jackpot run on Tuesday, which began April 19 with a $20 million annuitized prize.
Mega Millions hasn’t had a jackpot of this size since the January 22, 2021 drawing, when an out-of-state player scooped up an estimated $1.05 billion – the game’s second-largest jackpot reward.
Since Texas entered the Mega Millions game in 2003, it has produced 13 jackpot winners.
When a Leander resident won an estimated $227 million in September 2019, it was the highest prize ever awarded to a single Texas Lottery player.

Five Texas Lottery players have won second-tier Mega Millions of jackpots of $1 million or more since the start of 2022, two of whom have won during the current Mega Millions jackpot run of $1 million or more.
Second-tier prizes of $1,000,510 and $2 million were claimed by Houston and Ingram residents, respectively, in the May 13 and June 17 drawings.
Picking five numbers from a pool of 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second pool of 25 numbers is how you play Mega Millions.
To win the Mega Millions jackpot, a player must match all six numbers selected, including the Mega Ball. It’s possible to walk away with a prize even if you don’t reach all of the numbers.
The beginning jackpot for Mega Millions is $20 million, while the second-tier prize (Match 5+0) is $1 million.
Players can increase their non-jackpot earnings by two, three, four, or five times with the Megaplier® function, which costs an additional $1 each.
What Time Is The Mega Millions Drawing In California?
Each Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT, there is a drawing. There are almost 20,000 Texas Lottery stores where players can buy Mega Millions of tickets.
After 9:45 p.m. CT on Tuesday, July 26, ticket sales for the next Mega Millions drawing will be closed for the day. Up to a $1 million retailer bonus is available to the store that sells the winning Mega Millions ticket.
Where Can I Play Mega Millions?
You can compete in this game in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and the United States Virgin Islands. Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah are the only states that do not offer Mega Millions.
Lots of grocery stores, gas stations, and convenience stores have lottery tickets for sale as an option. For additional information, contact your local lottery. If you live in a state that allows online purchases of Mega Millions tickets, be aware of fraudulent websites.
How Do I Play Mega Millions?
Every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. EST, Mega Millions is drawn. The ticket cost is $2, but for an additional $1, you can purchase a Megaplier to multiply your win up to five times its original value (except for the jackpot).
Each player chooses five white balls from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 25. A random Quick Pick can also be generated for you by the lottery machine.
Except in California, the prizes range from $2 for matching the Mega Ball to $1 million for matching all five white balls and up to the jackpot prize for matching all six balls. You may see all of the prize disbursements on the Mega Millions website.
Your ticket does not require that you be a resident of the state in which you are purchasing it or even a citizen of the United States.
