The Orville Season 3 Release Date Australia: It would have been simpler for The Orville not to return for its second season.
Throughout its two short seasons, the comedy-drama set in space had received reviews and ratings that were decent but ordinary. Seth MacFarlane, the show’s creator, and a star was also working on other projects simultaneously, including Family Guy, American Dad!, and a television version of the Ted movies.
Fox had already moved two seasons around the schedule when the COVID-19 outbreak disrupted production, and the network placed its plans for a third season on hold until further notice. And in the year 2020, MacFarlane, whose cartoon series had been tentpole programming at Fox for decades, parted ways with his longstanding corporate superiors and signed a deal with NBC worth a total of $200 million, even though he was compensated by Fox for his work.
The Orville, however, has been renewed for a second season, just like its tenacious namesake spacecraft, which was most recently seen evading laser blasts during the decisive set-piece combat.

The Orville’s Season 3 Newest Crew Member
Fans of The Orville will recognize a new face among Captain Ed Mercer’s (Seth MacFarlane) crew when The Orville: New Horizons premieres on Hulu this week. Her name is Charly Burke, and she is a young ensign with exceptional navigational skills that have earned her a position on the bridge. The pilot, titled “Electric Sheep,” is when we get our first honest look at her and are introduced to her fierce attitude.
Before the start of The Orville in 2017, there had been six official Star Trek series produced in the preceding 51 years, making Star Trek’s aesthetic and many of the franchise’s traditions fair game for imitation in The Orville.
In the less than five years that have passed since then, CBS All Access and Paramount+ have shown an additional six, four of which made their debuts in the three years after The Orville’s second season.
And the Star Trek programs have had to compete against a constellation of other socially-minded spacefaring dramas, including popular streaming hits such as For All Mankind, The First, and Away, as well as later seasons of The Expanse, amongst others.
