After the season, Cal made a new friend, Layla, another non-binary student who preferred to follow the rules and avoid conflict, even if that meant going against their beliefs.
Layla had been injuring themselves, not because they were trying to harm themselves, but because they had no idea how to dress in a way that would make them appear less feminine.
Thanks to Cal, Layla better understands how to help herself while preparing for school.
Cal made it clear to Jackson that he wanted to be in a relationship where he was not perceived as a woman because he and Layla were the only non-binary students.
Cal and Layla are the most compatible students in the school, which could lead to a romance.
