Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 3: Let’s begin with Arondir’s plight at the end of Season 3’s third episode; he’d just witnessed the tragedy, and now he’s in an even more hopeless situation than before.
Some of the characters may not yet know the full scope of the evil forces in Middle-earth, and we can only assume that the challenges they will face as a group in the future will be numerous… and complex.
They need to be ready for anything since making it through this will not be easy.
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 3 Recap
In episode three, Galadriel and her new traveling companion Halbrand find themselves in Nmenor, a city formerly viewed as a symbol of friendship between Elves and Humans but has now closed its borders.
Arondir and his fellow soldiers are captured by the Orcs and forced to construct underground tunnels for their passage, while Frodo and Sam are denied permission to leave the island city and return to Middle Earth.
The magnitude and magnificence of the city of Nmenor on screen is the series’s greatest strength thus far.
Acting-wise, this episode was elevated by the naturalism and relatability of Morfydd Clark, who had perfect chemistry with Halbrand (Charlie Vickers).
The show’s pace is acceptable despite jumping between numerous plots and settings; this is to be commended, as it is consistent with the original and increases tension during the action sequences.
At the episode’s conclusion, we see a fleeting sight of the Orcs’ leader, an elf named Adar, who may be the evil lord Sauron.
Hopefully, the fourth episode will continue the high quality of the series thus far.
