Officials in South Florida said that a 3-year-old kid died Monday after he was found unconscious in a car near the education center where his parents work.
At 3:47 p.m., officers in Miami Gardens raced to the 700 block of Northwest 173rd Street “in regard to an unresponsive juvenile, inside of a car,” according to Detective Diana Delgado-Gourgue of the Miami Gardens Police Department.
Sholom Tauber was the name given to the youngster. His death was ruled an “accident” by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner because of heat.
At around 4 p.m., the temperature was 92 degrees, the highest temperature ever recorded on Monday. The humidity made it feel like 102 degrees by late Monday afternoon.
According to a spokesman, one of the victims is the son of two staff members at the adjacent Lubavitch Educational Center.
Tuesday, a counselor and therapist will meet with staff and students and provide “help as necessary,” according to Korf.
