She became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s thanks to her roles as comedic “blonde bombshells” on the big screen.

Who Was Marilyn Monroe’s First Husband?

In order to avoid returning to an orphanage in 1942, Marilyn married James Dougherty, a factory worker, the 21-year-old son of her next-door neighbor.

She was soon a housewife after she dropped out of high school. In the end, she admitted that she was about to “die of boredom” due to the monotony.

Before she became an actress, Marilyn was first discovered as a model while James was serving in the Marine Corps.

She divorced Dougherty, her career-hating husband, in September 1946.

As an American police officer, Dougherty served as the first instructor of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).

Then, he said of Marilyn: “Her reputation took a toll on her. She was far too sweet-natured to make a good actor. For Hollywood, she was too soft. And it’s possible for a person to spiral out of control if they start taking pills—upers and downers, as she was. They keep taking more and more pills because they can’t sleep.”

He had three children with his second wife, who he married twice after that.

On August 15, 2005, at the age of 84, he died.

Where And When Was Marilyn Monroe Born And What Was Her Real Name?

Norma Jeane Mortenson, better known as Marilyn Monroe, was born in 1926. In Los Angeles, California, she was born.
Gladys Pearl Baker (née Monroe) emigrated to California from a poor Midwestern family around the turn of the century.
The abusive John Newton Baker married Gladys when she was 15 years old. Robert (1917-1933) and Berniece (1922-1933) were their two children (1919-2014).
Gladys filed for divorce and sole custody of the children in 1923, but Baker abducted them and relocated them to Kentucky with him.
At 12, Marilyn learned of Berniece’s existence for the first time.
Gladys worked as a negative film cutter at Consolidated Film Industries after her divorce. She married Martin Edward Mortensen in 1924, but the couple divorced in 1928 after only a few short months of marriage.
DNA testing in 2022 revealed that Gladys’ coworker Charles Stanley Gifford, whom she had an affair with in 1925, was, in fact, Monroe’s father.
As soon as Gladys had Marilyn back, she placed her with evangelical Christian foster parents Albert and Ida Bolender, who had raised their daughter as their own. She also lived there for the first six months before being compelled to leave for work reasons. She began to visit her daughter on the weekends after Gladys started doing so.
She bought a house and brought her seven-year-old son Monroe with her in 1933.
Gladys was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 1934 after a mental breakdown. In her final years, she was hospitalized numerous times and was rarely in contact with Marilyn.
While Marilyn was growing up, she was in and out of foster care and was subjected to sexual abuse.
