In the preview, McNichols threatens to transfer Eddie to the farthest precinct as punishment for whatever she has done.
Remember that these two have had a tumultuous history together, yet much of the difficulty derives from neither of them being willing to give an inch.
McNichols knows how to get under Eddie’s skin and realizes this is a genuine threat that must be taken seriously.
Always remember that this character highly emphasizes working in the same precinct as her husband.
For this and other reasons, Jamie is no longer in a position where he would be considered a direct superior, and thus he has been promoted to the rank of field intelligence sergeant.
Jamie, Frank, and perhaps Eddie are all aware that Eddie must wage her war on her own.
There will be widespread accusations of nepotism if another Reagan is elected. She may swallow her pride if she does something wrong, which isn’t always easy.
Still, it has the potential to be an outstanding showcase for Vanessa as an actress and a fascinating television program.
