Director of Photography Halyna Hutchins, 42, was injured when “a prop gun was fired by Alec Baldwin, producer, and actor,” the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Hutchins “was transported by helicopter to the Hospital of the University of New Mexico, where she was declared dead by medical personnel,” the text added.

The director of ‘Rust’, Joel Souza, 48, was injured. “He was transported by ambulance” to a medical center for emergency treatment.

What Happened To Baldwin?

The 63-year-old actor, and Emmy winner, was questioned by detectives investigating the incident.

The sheriff’s department said Baldwin volunteered, answered questions, and offered statements. Then he left and was not arrested. Neither were charges filed.

A spokesman for the office said an investigation was opened.

Baldwin tweeted Friday that he was “absolutely cooperating” with police work.

What Is “Rust”?

The idea of filming “Rust” came after Souza investigated who had been the youngest person to be hanged in the Wild West.

Souza and Baldwin developed the idea in a script about an outlaw who rides to rescue his 13-year-old grandson sentenced to hang for an accident that is treated as murder.

Duo Harland Rust (Baldwin) and Lucas (played by Brady Noon) are on the run from the law and bounty hunters in New Mexico, where the movie was being filmed.

Baldwin compared “Rust” to “Unforgiven” in an interview, telling the trade publication The Hollywood Reporter that he was ready to enter the world of cowboys because his skills, including “riding and gun use,” were “at hand. all the time”.
