Rupert Murdoch Finds Love Again: Engaged to Ann Lesley Smith: Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is embarking on a new romantic adventure, announcing his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, a former San Francisco police chaplain. The news comes just months after the 92-year-old divorced Jerry Hall, his fourth wife.
The couple got engaged on St. Patrick’s Day in New York City and shared their excitement with the world. “We’re both eager to embrace the next chapter of our lives together,” Murdoch commented. At 66 years old, Smith sees their upcoming marriage as a “blessing from above.”
Interestingly, both Murdoch and Smith have backgrounds connected to the media industry. Smith’s late husband, country singer Chester Smith, was also a television and radio executive who played a role in promoting Univision. “Rupert and I have a lot in common, and we share similar values,” Smith explained.
The couple first crossed paths in September, and they plan to wed in the summer. With this marriage, Murdoch enters his fifth matrimonial commitment. He candidly admitted, “I was apprehensive about falling in love again, but I am certain this will be my final marriage. I couldn’t be happier.”
Over the years, Murdoch has had several high-profile marriages. He was first married to Patricia Booker (1956-1965), followed by Anna Torv (1967-1999), Wendi Deng (1999-2013), and most recently, Jerry Hall (divorced in August). Murdoch has six children from his previous marriages: Prudence, Elisabeth, Grace, Chloe, Lachlan, and James.
