After being postponed last year, the Tokyo Olympics are finally taking place and the excitement is everywhere. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are already underway, and Google has celebrated it with one of its Doodles in the form of games. Whenever there is an important event or one that needs to be remembered, Google ends up creating a custom Doodle to immortalize that moment.
On 23 July 2021, Google wanted to honor this milestone with the creation of a video game. Doodle Champion Island Games was developed by Google in collaboration with independent studio Studio 4C.
It is a game with a 16-bit RPG aesthetic that will delight those nostalgic for old consoles. In it, you will have to explore a map and face numerous enemies playing Olympic games with your character. The controls are simple, with the keyboard and space curators, although they can also be played from your mobile phone.
Thus, Japanese culture and video games are fused again in this video game that wants to immortalize the start of the Tokyo Olympics, which had to be delayed due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus.
The great thing about it is that the score you get in each discipline will be added to that of the other players around the world who also chose the same team as you. So yeah, this is like the Olympics.
