Will Smith Banned From The Oscars For 10 Years: After days of waiting, the Academy announced its decision for the slap that the actor gave the comedian. The board of governors had already anticipated its criticism of Smith.
Through a statement, the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reported that Will Smith will not be able to attend the Oscars for 10 years, after slapping Chris Rock on stage at the 94th Academy Awards. last March 27.

The group made up of 54 people, which includes personalities such as Steven Spielberg, Ava DuVernay, Laura Dern and Whoopi Goldberg, held a special meeting this Friday, April 8, to determine what action to take against Will Smith.
The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage
the academy said in a statement.
Today, the Board of Governors convened a meeting to discuss how best to respond to Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars, in addition to accepting his resignation
The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.
The academy also apologized for the way it handled the situation by allowing Smith to remain at the ceremony and receive his best actor award for his role in “King Richard.”
In a statement in the days following the Oscars, the academy said Smith was asked to leave the venue, but the actor refused to do so.
