Why Did Dr. Kapoor Leave New Amsterdam? One of New Amsterdam’s favorite doctors is leaving the series until further notice: Anupam Kher, who played Dr. Vijay Kapoor, will not be returning to the NBC medical drama, TVLine confirmed.
For several decades, series set in the world of medicine has been synonymous with success or at least with great acceptance by the public.
Starting from the eighties with ‘St. Elsewhere’, through the renowned ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ or ‘Doctor House’, there are many successful titles framed in this plot.
This being the case, ‘New Amsterdam‘ is the fashionable hospital fiction these days.
It should be noted that the new season of this series has been on Star + since last Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Why Did Dr. Kapoor Leave New Amsterdam?
The premiere episodes will have brief participation of Anupam Kher, the Indian interpreter who makes up the endearing ‘doctor Kapoor’.
When the production was about to start filming the third season, Kher’s wife was diagnosed with a type of cancer called multiple myeloma.
Faced with this, the actor decided to leave ‘New Amsterdam’, to focus on accompanying his partner during treatment.
Due to that absence, the production decided to bring back some cut scenes from previous seasons, thereby allowing ‘Dr. Kapoor’ to have some brief appearances in the third year of the show.
