Who was Devin Willock? Two people from the Georgia Bulldogs football team, a player and a staff member, died in a car accident early on Sunday morning, and two more were hurt.
This happened just a few hours after the team had won its second national title in a row.
The car accident in Athens, Georgia, killed Devin Willock, a 20-year-old offensive lineman, and Chandler LeCroy, a 24-year-old recruiting staff member. This is according to the UGA Athletic Association. The group says that two more hurt people are in stable condition.
Who was Devin Willock?
American football player Devin Willock was born in Paramus, New Jersey, in 2002. He grew up in the town of New Milford.
Willock, a sophomore with a redshirt, played in all 15 games for the Dawgs this season. He started against Tennessee and Kentucky and played in the national championship game.
ESPN ranked Willock as the 39th-best guard in the country and the 17th-best prospect from his home state of New Jersey.
On January 14, 2023, Georgia held a parade through town and a ceremony at Sanford Stadium to celebrate beating TCU 65-7 in the national championship game. Willock was an essential part of the team that had just won the national championship.
Willock and Chandler LeCroy died in a car accident in Athens, Georgia, on January 15, 2023. Willock was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, but LeCroy died in the hospital from head injuries.
