Who Is The Prince That Was Promised In House Of The Dragon?

Who Is The Prince That Was Promised In House Of The Dragon? The new spinoff of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, is a fantasy series with a rich history of legend and myth.

The first few episodes have gone deeply into ancient heritage, examining the complicated history of the Targaryen family and the world of Westeros.

Fans of Game of Thrones will recognize a reference to the cryptic prophesy of the Prince That Was Promised when Viserys and Rhaenyra discuss it in episode 4 of House of the Dragon.

Who Is The Prince That Was Promised In House Of The Dragon?

According to legend, the Prince That Was Promised would lead his people to victory over the White Walkers and restore light to the world.

Numerous hints about the identity of the Prince That Was Promised, commonly known as Azor Ahai, have been dropped throughout the Game of Thrones books and TV series.

Who Is The Prince That Was Promised In House Of The Dragon

The Prince will most likely be a Targaryen because Aegon the Conqueror expected the Messiah to be descended from his own house.

Fans of Game of Thrones may recall that at the beginning of Season 2, a red comet can be seen in the skies above Westeros, which is said to signal the arrival of the Prince.

The original prophecy was spoken in High Valyrian, where the word for Prince is neutral, therefore, the correct translation is the Prince, or Princess That Was Promised. This has caused considerable debate among Westerosi historians.

Who Are The Contenders For Being The Prince That Was Promised?

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are the most likely contenders to be the Prince That Was Promised.

As a Targaryen and a direct descendant of Aegon the Conqueror, Daenerys has a solid claim to the throne.

More extended versions of the prophecy include her possession of dragons, the births of which coincide with the red comet, as an asset in the struggle against the White Walkers.

Meanwhile, Jon Snow may appear implausible unless you recall that he is the secretly married son of Daenerys’s brother Rhaegar Targaryen and Ned Stark’s daughter Lyanna Stark, a Targaryen named Aegon.

The prophecy may relate to both Jon and Daenerys, as the song of ice and fire may represent the fiery Targaryen bloodline of Daenerys and the cold Stark bloodline of Jon, and the Night King can be defeated only by the combined forces of all humans against the Army of the Dead.
