Steve Burton and his pregnant wife, Sheree Burton, have chosen to call it quits after 23 years of marriage. On Wednesday, the former General Hospital star stated that he and the fitness professional, who is 47, are no longer together in an Instagram Story post.
“I wanted to make something plain,” he said, adding that he and his wife, Sheree, were no longer together. The 51-year-old actor went on to say: “She recently announced that she would be having her fourth kid in the near future. The child in question is not mine. My husband and I continue to co-parent three great children in spite of our differences. We would appreciate it if you could respect our privacy at this time. Steve, thank you so much.”
I got to know you while you were filming General Hospital. The actor and his wife Sheree tied the knot in 1999. Steve –– who is married to Sheree and has three children with her: daughters Makena, 18, Brooklyn, 7, and son Jack, 16 –– did not specify how long they have been separated.
Although Sheree has not made a public statement regarding their separation, According to a General Hospital fan blog, she just announced her pregnancy by posting a snapshot of herself from the side of her Instagram Story while embracing her baby bump. “Life certainly is full of surprises!” she wrote alongside the announcement.

Steve’s announcement comes nearly six months after he was fired from General Hospital for failing to comply with the show’s mandate to get vaccinated against the coronavirus infection.
After rumors of his departure from the ABC soap series began to circulate in November, In an Instagram video, the actor corroborated the story. According to a report from PEOPLE at the time, Burton taped his final episode of the show in October.
“I’m aware that there have been several rumors and speculations around me and General Hospital. I wanted you to hear it directly from me, so I wrote this letter. “In the video, he says something similar. “Unfortunately, I was forced to leave General Hospital as a result of the vaccine mandate. I did ask for medical and religious exemptions, and both of those requests were denied, which, as you can imagine, was disappointing.”
He went on to say, “However, this is also about personal liberty, in my opinion. I do not believe that anyone should lose their job as a result of this. But, as you know, I’ll always be grateful for my time spent at General Hospital, and I adore the people I’ve met while working there.”
“Perhaps, if these regulations are abolished, I will be able to return to my former identity of Jason Morgan and complete my career. That would be a tremendous honor. “As a last note, he alluded to the role he has been portraying on and off since 1991.
Previously, Steve had tested positive for COVID-19 in August following his claim that he had been exposed to the virus “at work”; however, he did not specify whether he was referring to the General Hospital set at the time. General Hospital’s vaccine mandate, which applies to all actors and crew members who are present on set while the performers are not wearing masks, has been in effect since Nov. 1 at the time of his departure.
Steve is slated to return to his Days of Our Lives role of Harris Michaels, which he initially appeared in 1988 and has been playing since. According to Soap Central, the actor will appear in the second season of Peacock’s Days of Our Lives spinoff Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, which will premiere on July 11.
