David Hoyle: On September 8, 2022, it was announced that Queen Elizabeth II had died and that her son, Charles, would succeed him as monarch.
The funeral for the Queen has been scheduled for Monday, March 19, at Westminster Abbey. The entire United Kingdom will observe the day as a national bank holiday.
Who Is David Hoyle?
The Rt. Rev. Dr. David Hoyle, MBE, is the 39th Dean of Westminster. His responsibilities include leading the congregation of Westminster Abbey and overseeing its spiritual life.
Dr. Hoyle received his doctorate from Cambridge University after focusing his dissertation on the English Reformation’s later years. He studied theology at Ripon College in Cuddesdon and was ordained in 1986 before taking the position of Curate at the Church of the Good Shepard in Cambridge.
In addition to his current position as Director of Ministry and Canon Residentiary at Gloucester Cathedral, Hoyles has previously held the positions of Vicar of Christ Church, Southgate, Chaplain, and Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and Director of Studies in Theology at Gloucester Cathedral. In addition, he has served as Bristol’s dean.
November 16, 2019, will see the installation of Dr. Hoyle as the Dean of Westminster.
Dr. David Hoyle, the Dean of Westminster, will preside over the funeral, broadcast live on television, radio, and the internet.
What Will Happen Right Up To The Funeral Of Queen Elizabeth?
The procession carrying the Queen’s coffin began on September 11 at Balmoral Castle and ended at Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse. On Monday, September 12, a parade was organized to take the coffin to St. Giles’ Cathedral.
The Royal Company of Archers’ Vigils will watch its last resting place while Scots pay their respects. The procession carrying the Queen’s coffin from RAF Northolt to Buckingham Palace will begin on Tuesday, December 13.
On the afternoon of September 14, the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will carry the coffin in procession from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster atop a Gun Carriage. In Westminster Hall, the Queen will lie in state until the morning of the state funeral.
Who Will Attend The Rebirth Of The Queen?
The funeral will be by invitation only. For the Most Gracious King, Members of other royal families, the Prime Minister, members of HM Government and Opposition, Heads of State, and representatives of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s patronages will all be present during the service, in addition to the King and his immediate family.
The Very Reverend and Right Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of All England, and Metropolitan, will deliver the sermon at the funeral, which Dr. David Hoyle will lead.
