Who Are The Greens And The Blacks In House Of The Dragon?

Who Are The Greens And The Blacks In House Of The Dragon? The Targaryen Civil War, also known as the Dance of the Dragons, has been gradually set up in the Game of Thrones prequel since the premiere of House of the Dragon.

Rhaenyra Targaryen and her erstwhile friend Alicent Hightower’s relationship has deteriorated with each episode as the threat of King Viserys’s death have increased.

As she tells Daemon in their marriage proposal from Episode 7, “I cannot face the Greens alone,” Rhaenyra explains why she needs his help to survive against the enemies of the human race.

Who are the Greens House of the Dragon and their opposing group, the Blacks, in the Targaryen Civil War?

Who Are The Greens In The House Of The Dragon?

As a reference to Alicent Hightower’s Targaryen family faction, “The Greens” is used here.

Several prominent families in Westeros, notably the Strongs and the Lannisters, as well as Queen Alicent’s own children Aegon and Aemond, are part of this group. Ser Criston Cole is also involved.

Alicent’s green bridal gown from episode 5’s Rhaenyra’s wedding inspired the moniker “The Greens,” which is also the color of House Hightower’s battle banners.

While the account of how the Green Faction got its name stays mostly the same, the origins of the green dress are slightly different in the books due to Alicent’s first wearing it at a tournament rather than a wedding.

Who Are The Blacks In House Of The Dragon?

Supporters of Rhaenyra Targaryen and her right to the throne are known as “the Blacks.”

For the same reason that the Greens got their moniker, Rhaenyra’s supporters are called the Blacks because of her dress, which is black and red like House Targaryen’s.

Although Rhaenyra has been shown wearing black in recent episodes, we have not yet seen THE dress in question. However, the episode 8 teaser suggests that Rhaenyra will be donning the extravagant dragon-embossed garment.

Besides Rhaenyra, the Blacks counted among their number Daemon Targaryen, Lord Corlys Verlaryon, Rhaenyra’s children from both her first marriage to Laenor Velaryon and her second marriage to Daemon, including Aegon the Younger and Viserys and several other prominent families, including House Stark, whom we haven’t seen much of in House of the Dragon.
