When Is Josh Hawley Up For Re-Election?
Hawley (Republican Party) was a candidate for the seat of Missouri in the United States Senate. On November 6, 2018, he won the general election.
With his victory, he swept aside incumbent Claire McCaskill’s two terms in office and her three primary challengers: Craig O’Dear (Independent), Japheth Campbell, and Jo Crain.
During the 116th Congress, Hawley was the Senate’s youngest member at 39 years old.
Hawley was Missouri’s attorney general from 2017 to 2019. He was elected to the Senate in November of that year. He successfully argued and won two Supreme Court cases. In Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, he served as one of the co-counsel.
On September 9, 2020, President Trump issued a list of 20 potential Supreme Court nominees, and Hawley was one of them.
On September 26, 2020, President Trump (R) nominated Amy Coney Barrett to fill the vacancy.
On September 18, 2020, former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will die, creating a vacancy on the Supreme Court.
