'The Woman King' debuts with $19 million

The movie earned $19 million from 3,765 North American theatres during the weekend, exceeding forecasts.

Independent monitoring agencies predicted "The Woman King" would earn $15 million to $18 million, while Sony forecast $12 million.

"The Woman King" cost $50 million to make, without considering marketing costs like TIFF.

Fil"X" opened in March to $4.2 million and ended with $11 million.

A healthy $20.9 million was brought in by "Barbarian" at the domestic box office since its release.

The movie has been a fall mainstay, with ticket sales exceeding $96 million.

Tom Cruise's blockbuster sequel collected $2.18 million over the weekend, bringing North American ticket sales to $709 million.
