Missing Jogger Eliza Fletcher's Body Has Been Identified By Police In Memphis

Police in Tennessee confirmed Tuesday that Eliza Fletcher was died after being forced into an SUV on Friday morning.

The discovery followed a weekend search with dogs, ATVs, and a helicopter in a case that has gained national media interest and is already causing party discussion over sentence and parole.

Cleotha Abston, 38, was detained Saturday after police found his DNA on sandals near where Fletcher was last seen.

Police found Fletcher's body after 5 p.m. on Monday and confirmed it was his on Tuesday.

Fletcher, age 34, was an educator and the granddaughter of a successful Memphis businessman. 

Abston served 20 years in jail for an earlier kidnapping and will be released in 2020.

His first appearance in court was on Tuesday morning, where he was charged with kidnapping, tampering with evidence, theft, identity theft, and credit card fraud.

On Tuesday, Memphis police announced via Twitter that he will also face charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
