It's common knowledge that Ed Sheeran, singer and songwriter, is a huge fan of the Pokémon franchise.

In addition to promoting the 2022 Pokémon World Championships in London

He is also well-known for his appreciation of the cute water-type Squirtle

And his work with The Pokémon Company last year on a "special performance" in Pokémon Go.

The original Game Boy Color he bought to play Pokémon Yellow and Silver is still in his possession, and he claims to use it often.

With the release of Celestial, however, Sheeran and Pokémon are deepening their link

Not only do Pokémon appear in the music video for the song

But it will also make an appearance in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

There is concern for Sheeran's well-being after he released the "Celestial" music video on Thursday

After having teased it two weeks prior by hiding it under a pile of Pokémon plush toys.

Sheeran suffers from Pokémon-related delusions throughout "Celestial," including: having a fry up with Charmander

Who helps him make food for all his imaginary Pokémon pals; being nearly hit by a London cab but being spared death by a Snorlax

And hitching a ride home from Charizard after being struck with songwriting inspiration.

Sheeran then goes full anime from there, supposedly dying in an explosion brought on by a battle between Mew and Mewtwo.
