Hayden Panettiere recalls'sketchy' moment she was given Happy Pills aged 16

Hayden Panettiere was a child actress in Hollywood who struggled with substance abuse as an adult.

"Someone on my team came to me before the red carpet, and I had been doing Heroes and press all the time, so I was a little low-energy," Panettiere says co-hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and guest host Kelly Osbourne.

Panettiere now believes the "Happy pill" was a prescription stimulant similar to Adderall, but obtained from Mexico.

Panettiere says she didn't realise anything was wrong until she asked for extra medications "For personal use"

"They were for interviews," Panettiere told PEOPLE in July.

Panettiere claimed to PEOPLE in July that she drank and took opiates early in her career "I couldn't be messy on set.

Panettiere also addresses turning up full custody of her 7-year-old daughter Kaya to ex Wladimir Klitschko, calling it the "most devastating thing I've ever done."
